Good Shepherd Community Outreach
Who We Are
The Good Shepherd Community Outreach Committees integrate the teachings of Jesus Christ into our daily lives and the lives of those we meet. We strive to utilize our God given gifts of time, talent and treasure through example, parish education, and advocacy for those in need.
We identify and respond to human dignity needs within our community, our region, and our world. We support parish spiritual enrichment and enhance the lives of others. We give back to our community, share our blessings and make a positive difference in the lives we serve. As grateful and generous givers, we are excited about what God can accomplish through us.
How We Minister
We serve parishioners and residents of our communities by helping meet essential needs throughout the year. We provide financial and food donations to the food pantries in both towns, contribute to local fuel-assistance funds, and support students in need with back-to-school backpacks and Walmart gift cards.
Seasonal outreach efforts include our annual Socktober collection of new socks for local homeless shelters; Christmas Wreath Gifts, which provides new toys and gifts for children at Holy Family Home and Shelter; and Easter gift card donations that help local families purchase holiday meals.
Our outreach also supports organizations including Catholic Charities, Covenant to Care, Covenant Soup Kitchen, Hebron Interfaith Human Services, Project Hope, and WAIM. Through quarterly meal coordination, soup kitchen support, charity walks, fundraisers, and holiday service and gift-giving programs, we work to care for our neighbors during both ordinary times and the most meaningful seasons of the liturgical year.
We also provide financial support for the teachers and children of our adopted village in Fonds Baptiste, Haiti.
